The Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC)

The Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) is (in my opinion) a promotional marketing scheme designed to benefit Aveta Institute, which I believe to be owned by Craig Setter. It is my belief that the sole purpose of the organization is to give Aveta Institute’s belt certification process more credibility. As a Master Black Belt and Six Sigma professional for over 20 years, it is my assertion that Aveta’s certification is a scheme that performs testing, then provides certificates. I have been unable to locate contact information for the CSSC website. My understanding is that there is just a short form to fill out and the one person on the council will approve or accept the application.

The CSSC Facebook page shows that the organization has been around since 2005, but the site only dates back to 2010. If you look at the Facebook post from one organization they are asking how to contact CSSC.

It is my belief that Aveta Institute, led by Craig Setter, created a marketing scheme in an attempt to provide credibility for the Aveta Institute. Therefore, it appears that Aveta Institute owns and runs the Council for Six Sigma Certification.

A detailed historical WhoIs registration report shows Craig Setter as the owner of both http://www.sixsigmaonline.org/ and http://www.sixsigmacouncil.org/ or CSSC . There are 20 pages on the http://www.sixsigmaonline.org/site that reference CSSC. This was even addressed on iSixSigma, as you can see below by clicking on the link to the forum. You can see the original WhoIs information for CSSC before it was set to private.

It is my assertion that none of the universities listed on http://www.sixsigmacouncil.org/ have links that recognize their association with CSSC on the university websites. In fact, I believe many of the companies listed do not reference their association with CSSC on their websites.

It is my belief that Sixsigmaonline.org has two listings with the Better Business Bureau. In my opinion the addresses appear to be the same. I believe that I found the information regarding CSSC on the Better Business Bureau website. My understanding of the information is that two addresses appeared. The Ohio address listed on record has an alert on its page from the BBB indicating the business is closed and a new location was added with a Pennsylvania address. The same Pennsylvania address is the one currently being used for both Sixsigmaonline.org and CSSC, in my opinion.
