Becoming Complacent Is Asking for Business Failure

six sigma business failure

For the businesses that have adapted to the Six Sigma methodology, branding and positioning their company is simple, because those businesses are reinforcing their core mission and what they stand for every single working day.

You might say the Six Sigma methodology should be at the core of every business. When a business takes care of its customers or clients, there isn’t a need to “search for the right word or concept” to explain its process. It’s all very evident in the everyday processes that it takes to run that business efficiently and effectively.

Beware, Changes Can Be Subtle

All businesses start off with the right mindset, to take care of its customers and provide a much-needed service or convenience or product. Then without notice, the danger of becoming complacent sets in.  Becoming complacent is what makes businesses fail. Remember, nothing ever stays the same, every single thing must change. It is the ebb and flow of life.

Changes can be subtle, until they are not, and by that time it is too late. Let’s take the example of a car. You buy a late model car, and all the conveniences work great. If you constantly monitor how your car is running, you will notice every little change. So at the beginning you might get that little change looked at and fixed.

As time passes, you might notice something, but you will probably ignore it for the time being or “jimmy” it so that it might work until you get it fixed. By the end of five years, so many little things have gone wrong. Then all of a sudden, a big component fails. So you figure, “Oh, it is time for a new car.” In reality, that car is still perfectly good and just needs some TLC.

In business, a similar situation is seen when a company lets great employees go, because their business isn’t making the money it used to.
